Counselling for adults at CRASAC provides a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for victims and survivors of sexual violence and abuse to explore and work through their experiences.

The service is available for all genders over the age of 18 who have been impacted by any form of rape, sexual abuse or sexual violence at any time in their lives.

During your counselling session you will never be pressured into talking about anything you don’t want to and the focus will be entirely on what you choose to bring.

Effects of abuse may not always be obvious for many years after it took place.  Although counselling cannot make the abuse go away, it will enable you to work through thoughts and feelings, allowing you to acknowledge what happened, and live with it as a part of your life without being overwhelmed or controlled by the experience.

Short-term crisis counselling is available for adult women and children who have attended a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). This is a short term therapy which doesn’t work with the deeper trauma related to experiencing sexual violence, but helps manage the impact on day to day life, providing support, sympton management and coping strategies.

Counselling is also available for supporters of victims and survivors of sexual violence and abuse.  As a partner or family member of someone who is struggling with their experiences we can help you to understand its impact and your related feelings and experiences.
