Engaging with ethnic minority communities to support survivors of child sexual abuse

17 / 05 / 2022

CRASAC hosted a webinar delivered by the Independent Inquiry for Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) highlighting its research into the barriers that victims and survivors of child sexual abuse from ethnic minority communities face when disclosing or reporting child sexual abuse.

Speakers from IICSA lead the discussion on the resulting engagement report. The event focused on two of the key themes of mistrust of services and culture, which can leave victims and survivors trapped, making it difficult to disclose as adults.

“Deliberate acts of inaction allow for the abuse of children to continue; to grow and to keep children in a world of continued and prolonged trauma.”

Sabah Kaisar, Ethnic Minority Ambassador, IICSA
